In 2018, diverse research groups from over the world came together to form the Funds of Knowledge Alliance. This research project was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (MINECO), the Spanish State Research Agency (EAI), and the European Regional Development Fund (European Union) [grant number EDU2017-83363-R].
The group coalesced around the need to promote inclusion and social justice by enhancing educational practices. They set out to develop an organization that could collaborate with researchers, educators and policymakers to conduct high quality and useful research for the effectiveness of various reforms aimed at addressing inequalities.
We strive to advance equity in education by providing credible, non-partisan evidence about policies and practices that promote justice, inclusion and social cohesion.
Housed at the Institute of Educational Research (University of Girona, Spain), the Research Alliance:
- Conducts applied research in collaboration with universities, schools, policymakers, researchers, educators, and other stakeholders;
- Advances the funds of knowledge approach through an exchange of resources, studies and practices;
- Communicates the results of our work to multiple audiences across multiple media platforms.
